Poland just slashed fuel prices — while the rest of Europe watches costs climb.

As the Middle East crisis pushed oil prices higher across the continent, Poland moved fast. The government cut fuel VAT from 23% down to 8% for the entire month of April 2026. They also reduced excise duties on both gasoline and diesel.

The result? Polish drivers are paying significantly less at the pump than their neighbors in Germany, France, or the Czech Republic right now.

German transport companies have already started complaining. They say it hands Polish trucking businesses an unfair competitive edge — Polish drivers fill up cheaper and undercut European competitors on price.

Poland's response? We look after our own people first.

While other governments scheduled meetings and drafted statements, Poland changed the price at the pump within days of the crisis escalating.
