Sunrise in the lookout
It was a long night waiting for the northern lights to appear. The forecast was on point. The cloud cover hide it all. Nevertheless the same clouds made a firework sunrise. We had a blast sleeping in the lookout. My bag was full of useful stuff for everyone. I started to think I am a wandering Hotel when I hike with others.

Wartime secret unfinished oil refinery tunnels.

Sketchy place dug out under a month with POWs during the Szalasi era. The Red Army's advance was so fast they could not finish and shipped the machinery to Germany before production was started. Nowadays Bats, and other critters live in the tunnels with the constant danger of shaft collapses.

Iceland Southern Peninsula snippets

The Mid-atlantic ridge full with sharp vulcanic dust. Cuts into the eye when the strong winds pick it up and makes rattling sounds in my photograpy lens. Challenging environment even in sunny weather.
Sandgerdi is a small town with a cute little church where my son was playing with the strong winds. The last one is the Swartsengi geothermal power plant between Reykjanestá and Grindavik. This is where the blue mud for the Blue Lagoon is made. Geothermic water comes up from 2000m and cools down in the pond. Contains white silica and other minerals and various skincare products are made from this wastewater. The Blue lagoon was closed during our visit as the nearby lavaflow blocked the Grindavik roads. For some these conditions for living is neither safe, nor acceptable. For Icelanders this was sunday...

Some more pictures from our Icelandic trip.
Reykjavik was left for the last day of our trip. It was a treat to our souls to wander around in the city center remembering our golden circle and ring road trip's best moments. Sitting in cozy bakery and restaurants to try the culinary treats what the country can offer. It was a real treat to our senses. I had thesecond best baked fish of my life made from arctic char. The stay at Courtyard was way too comfortable. It was very tempting to stay there instead of diving 8-10 hours every day 😅
