Le temple de Penataran, ou temple Palah de son nom original, est un groupe de temples religieux hindous siwaitis situé dans le village de Penataran, district de Nglegok, régence de Blitar, Java oriental. Le temple le plus magnifique et le plus large de Java oriental se trouve sur le versant sud-ouest du mont Kelud, au nord de Blitar, à 450 mètres d'altitude. D'après les inscriptions conservées dans le temple, on estime qu'il a été construit sous le règne du roi Srengga du royaume de Kadiri, vers 1200 après J.-C., et qu'il a continué à être utilisé jusqu'au règne de Wikramawardhana, roi du royaume de Majapahit, vers 1415. Dans le livre Desawarnana ou Nagarakretagama, écrit en 1365, ce temple est désigné sous le nom de « Palah », édifice sacré visité par le roi Hayam Wuruk lors de sa tournée royale dans l'est de Java.
