Our story
We invite you to join us in the creation of Dragon’s Nest. We began construction in May of 2019. It is a very interesting and uplifting project for all of us involved. We first thought we would build a small house for ourselves while other families are visiting Katana Villa from around the world. Then as it progressed we realised we were creating something unique, something others would enjoy. Although still in construction, we are contemplating to turn it into a vacation rental.
Why do we call it “Dragon’s Nest?” The name came to us after we learned the story of our land. We were told this land is full of holy spirits, including dragon spirits that come down from Bangle Mountains to rest here. Back in the day, the holy men of the village would come here to meditate and pray because of this.
As any creative process, if you are open to it and listen, you are carried along. Fortunately for us we found an excellent hardworking and honest contractor, Nengah Ardy who understands us and has been flexible with us every step of the way as things keep changing. He also surrounds himself with excellent workers.
We had the dream to make an endless pool with a waterslide and the upper pool would be a “nest” with mother dragon’s claws holding it. It was a fanciful thought and we never imagined we could actually DO IT for two reasons; 1). A project that big would be out of our budget, and 2). We had no idea how we could find the only artist we knew of that could make this fantasy a reality.
