I’ve been asked recently what is the best age to travel, can children truly appreciate the experience?

Although this is not a one size fits all question, my general answer would be yes, no matter what age. The reason being, the parents can enjoy the company of the children and the children will have treasured memories to look back on in years to come-wether it just be photographs.

Some people have recollections back to 3 years old which is obviously better once they are napping less and eating all solids to get the most from the trip.

I am extremely lucky to have been able to travel to new countries as a small I child and I believe that it has shaped me into the adult I am today. Being accepting of new cultures, social skills, open perspectives and having a broad pallet for foods and flavours.

5 must see temples in Bali (Save this post for later): ⬇️🕌

•TANAH LOT- Lots of cultural offerings and amazing spot to watch the sunset.

•ULUWATU TEMPLE- Well known for the traditional Balinese dance show overlooking the breathtaking cliff side view (watch out for the naughty monkeys!!)

•GOA GAJAH- Unique wall carvings and bathing pools around, something different to see.

•UNDERWATER TEMPLE- Located in Pemuteran, there is a hidden gem which can only be seen clearly underwater. Add this to your diving bucket list.

•PURA BESAKIH- Located at Mt Agung. If you get the chance to go, DO! It holds beautiful architecture which is the reason why it’s the main postcard picture in all Bali tourism shops.

For anyone planning or even thinking about doing a gap year in Australia. My best advise would be to just do it! 🇦🇺✨

Not everything will go to your original plan, this is because of the people you’ll meet and new opportunities arising. It can be daunting too. For many countries it’s a heck of a long way away. Kick start your plans before you take the leap:

📝 What visa do I need/ am I eligible for

📝 Land/ get an idea of what jobs I will do/ can do on my visa

📝 Basic itinerary for each state I plan on visiting

📝 How will I get around

📝 Save up for an emergency fund

📝 Am I mentally prepared

When traveling it can be hard to know what’s going on/ events that are happening in your area. It sucks missing out on a big event and the sinking feeling of FOMO.

Here’s my tips to finding the best festivals and music events while travelling:

•Ask around in your accommodation/ hostel. Hostels are especially great for word of mouth and getting invites to social events.

•Joining Facebook forums for smaller parties/raves that are so mainstream. These are sometimes the best ones.

•Looking on the official state/ country website at the music events page or other festival searching websites.

When you hear Byron Bay, a different vibe comes to mind for everyone. For some it’s a small hippy town for others it’s an up and coming city. Which ever one it is for you there’s no denying that it’s home to some beautiful views.

My personal recommendations:

•Byron Bay lighthouse 💡
You can either drive or do the whole trail. I recommend doing the trail to avoid parking fees and not miss out on anything. You will even pass the most eastern point of Australia.

•Check out some of the boutique shops 👗
I couldn’t walk in a shop and at least not want to splurge on one thing. Some well know brands with a little seasoning.

•The Farm 🐴
Located about a 20 minute drive from the beaches into the grassland you will find the cutest operating farm and restaurant. The food is amazing and you can even purchase your own ingredients to take home.

Darwin is packed with things to do but I wouldn’t quite say it’s full of luxurious resorts like many other places in the world. I know us ‘European girls’ are used to those all inclusive getaways. It’s very limited in the top end however here are few places to fulfil your resort needs.

🏨 Mindil Beach Resort and Casino

One of the main ones that most people see on the brochures and airport ads. Great for a weekend away for those not so used to roughing it out. Stick to your comforts and sip cocktails by the pool!

🏨 De Lago Resort on Lake Bennett

With picturesque postcard views you can get the luxury feel for next to nothing. If you are looking for a romantic getaway or just some time with the girls this is the one for you. Truly a hidden gem!

🏨 Crab Claw Island Resort

Somewhere new and different to explore. At about an hour from the main ‘city’ you can discover the more rural side of the area for a little unwinding time. Discover the nature and breathe it all in.
