Unfortunately, plastic waste is a huge problem in Lombok. Before plastic was introduced to Indonesia, most of the waste was organic. People were used to throw it into nature or burn it. No harm was done with that. With the introduction of plastic, the government lacked educating people about the damage it can do to nature, animals and humans when you throw it into nature or burn it. Some people have no clue where plastic is made from or what the consequences are.
Besides that, the government doesn’t provide in an inadequate waste disposal system.

Luckily there are some great initiatives to help make an end to this plastic waste problem. One of the is ‘Plastik Kembali’. This organisation recycles plastic into amazing useful and artistic items. Today we attended a workshop of ‘Plastik Kembali’ where they were teaching the local community how to make a carpet out of recycle plastic.
It was amazing to see the products which can be made out of recycled plastic. And I admire the dedication of the organisation to help the local community by teaching them about the problem plastic can cause and also by learning them how to make money out of waste.

Lombok is known for its beautiful beaches but that’s not the only stunning nature that the Island has to offer. Not many who visit the Island realize that there are a lot of gorgeous waterfalls to discover.
One of them is the Sarang Walet Waterfall which is located near Tetebatu village and definitely worth the visit!

Sunday is family day!!
And a lot of people spend that day on the beautiful beach of Tanjung Aan.
Tanjung Aan is one of the most popular beaches of the south of Lombok and is known for its pearl white sand and turqoise sea. Alongside the 2km long coastline you will find many swings for the most perfect instagram pictures.
Tanjung Aan Beach has many Warungs where they serve the most delicious local food. Besides enjoying the beautiful view during the day and an amazing sunset in the afternoon it is also a popular surfspot. Many of the Warung rent out surfboards and if you prefer the underwater world they also provide snorkeling gear.
