MOUNT BROMO

Mount Bromo is known as a natural tourist attraction in Ngadisari Village, Sukapura District, Probolinggo Regency, East Java Province.

The location of Mount Bromo is inside the Tengger Caldera with the four cones of Mount Bromo Ancient, namely Mount Batok (2,440 masl), Mount Kursi (2,581 masl), Mount Widodaren (2,614 masl), and Mount Watangen (2,601 masl). The height of Mount Bromo is approx. 2,329 meters above sea level (m asl), or about 200 m from the bottom of the caldera. The area is also included in the largest volcanic area in the province of East Java in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. The history of the eruption of Mount Bromo
Reporting from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) website, the history of the eruption of Mount Bromo began to be recorded in 1804.

In addition, the biggest eruption of Mount Bromo is said to have occurred around 1974.

Since the eruptions in 2010and 2015 until now, Mount Bromo is still at level II (Alert), so PVMBG recommends the public, tourists or climbers not to enter the area within a radius of 1 km from the active crater.

PVMBG noted that the eruption cycle of Mount Bromo cannot be determined, with the shortest resting period of less than one year while the longest resting period is up to 16 years.

Visual observations and seismicity of Mount Bromo are currently being carried out from the Cemoro Lawang PGA Post (2,275 m asl), in Ngadisari Village, Sukapura District, Probolinggo Regency.
