Thursday we set out from Carlow on our Sheelin rowing boat , this time for 2 days . Our first camp out was just after the Railway bridge in Bagenalstown. It was getting dark on us and had to set up camp and make food in the dark, a cold night and the Dew was heavy making everything wet and cold .
In the morning we woke up to a field of cows and a bull.
There was a mist on the river but warmed up soon enough . I lost count of all the locks I think twenty. Even so we rowed around 42km until we got Graiguenamanagh where Tom picked us up.
Thanks to Billy from Irish waterways for helping us with the first few locks . This was our first real bit of training and Sue and myself handled it well.
So onwards and upwards
