🐟 Meet the European Perch

With its bold dark stripes and vibrant red fins, the European perch is one of the most distinctive and recognisable fish found in Cavan's lakes and waterways.

Perch are widespread throughout County Cavan and provide exciting sport on light tackle, making them a favourite with both experienced anglers and those new to fishing. Their willingness to take a lure or bait and their energetic fight make every catch a memorable one.

Whether you're fishing from the bank or exploring Cavan's waters by boat, keep an eye out for this colourful freshwater predator on your next visit.
