Buttermilk Lodge Guest Accommodation Purpose built to accommodate guests in comfort with every modern convenience, Buttermilk Lodge offers One and Two Bedroom Apartments just 5 minutes walk from Clifden centre.

Each apartment has separate kitchen/dining/living areas, with cookers, full kitchen facilities, washer/dryer, sofa, tv, fireplace etc. The bedrooms all have a private shower room (with great water pressure !), storage, TV, radio alarm clock, hairdryer, ironing facilities & every modern convenience. The comfortable large beds are fully dressed, and there are towels, personal toiletries etc. in the shower rooms.

There is complimentary WiFi and parking for guests.

All necessary instructions, lots of local information is provided, maps, guides etc. to ensure you enjoy your stay !

Pat is a keen hill walker. He qualified on the first ever Connemara based guiding course, and is a member of Connemara Walking Guides Association, na Beannna Beola and The Maumturks Walking Groups. He will gladly assist you with suggestions, tips, maps etc and if you would like a guide for your walk he or some of his colleagues can be arranged to guide you.
Pat and Cathriona have a farm nearby where guests are welcome to visit the Connemara Ponies and Sheep.

They will do everything they can to ensure you enjoy your visit. The tasteful décor, stunning mountain views, friendly Connemara Ponies, complimentary private parking, and many extra touches ensure return visits.
Children over 10 are welcome, No smoking !

100th SHOW WELCOME RECEPTION | TUESDAY 19th 6pm🎠

Join us at the Show Marquee on the Showgrounds tomorrow evening, Tuesday 19th, from 6pm as we officially welcome you all to the 2025 Connemara Pony Show.

Along side drinks and nibbles we look forward to launching the Clifden Connemara Pony Show Book - The Best of 2002 -2023. Created by International photographer Susanne Lehman, this is a rich visual history of the Show over the past 20years.

This Welcome event is free to all competitors, supporters, breeders, visitors, business owners and the wider community. Please share the word and we look forward to kicking off this year’s Show tomorrow with you all.

The ‘Connemara Pony Show-Clifden’ committee consists of Mary Coyne (Chair), John Sweeney, Karen Mannion, Terrence O’Toole, Cllr. Eileen Mannion and Cllr. Gerry King with a wider support of local volunteers will manage the organisation and running of the Show for the next three year period.

It gives us great pleasure to welcome the first of our guests later today for The Connemara Pony Show, Clifden 2025!

A very special 100th show and Clifden is buzzing!

We are thrilled to say we have guests from (in order of arrival) France, Finland, the USA and Ireland stay with us this week and some have stayed since our first Clifden Show in 1997 !

Sadly we have lost a few regulars in the years since, and others can not travel this year but rest assured they will be fondly remembered, thought of, mentioned and quoted during the week!

ENTRY ADMISSION 🎟️

Entry admission to this year’s 100th Anniversary Show will be available at the gates of the Showgrounds each day. Cash & card payments will be accepted.

Tuesday 19th - demonstration & Loose Jumping Championships in association with Horse Sport Ireland: Free Admission for all.

Join us from 6pm for the 100th Show Welcome Reception. Free to attend, we welcome all competitors #, breeders, businesses and visitors to join us as we celebrate the start of Show Week.

Wednesday 20th- In Hand Showing & Supreme Championship in association with Sweeney Oil:

Thursday 21st- Ridden Competitions & Ridden Championship in association with Galway County Council:

There has been suggestions of presales of admission wrist bands and availability online ahead of the Show. We appreciate this feedback and will look at this for future Shows.

FULL SCHEDULE OF EVENTS 🗓️

We are delighted to share the full schedule of events for the 100th Annual Connemara Pony Show. Taking place 19th-22nd August this year’s celebration will be marked with events across Clifden.

Four days of competitive classes will take place at the Show Grounds while live music, book launches, photography exhibitions and family activities will be held around the town.

The ‘Connemara Pony Show-Clifden’ committee of Mary Coyne (Chair), John Sweeney, Karen Mannion, Terrence O’Toole, Cllr. Eileen Mannion and Cllr. Gerry King wish to thank all entrants, sponsors and volunteers who have supported the Show to date.

THE COUNT DOWN IS ON!!

Next month the Showgrounds in Clifden will be abuzz (atrot?) with Connemara ponies!

Bringing the 100th Annual Show together is the newly formed Connemara Pony Show-Clifden committee of Mary Coyne, John Sweeney, Karen Mannion, Eileen Mannion, Gerry King and Terence O’Toole.

Along with the support of our subcommittee members, last night was a productive planning session at the Showgrounds as work continues behind the scenes to prepare for this year’s event.

To date we have received so much support from the local, national and international communities from businesses, breeders and Connemara pony enthusiasts. We are grateful to everyone giving their time, input and encouragement as we prepare to celebrate the 100th Show.

We look forward to welcoming you all to Clifden
19th-22nd August.
