NOTICE OF EXERCISE - LOUGH CORRIB
Galway Civil Defence will host a planned Search & Rescue training exercise on Lough Corrib this Saturday, 3rd October 2026.
The exercise will involve Civil Defence personnel and rescue craft from a number of counties, along with supporting resources, working together to practise water search and rescue, communications, navigation and inter-unit coordination.
Members of the public may notice an increased presence of rescue boats, emergency vehicles, drones and personnel around Lough Corrib and the Cong area throughout the day.

The exercise provides an important opportunity for participating teams to train together, share skills and experience, and strengthen interoperability between neighbouring units.

We thank the public and other users of Lough Corrib for their co-operation and understanding.

Thank you everyone from Corrib Beo for showcasing the ancient and magical Inchagoill Island. with some beautiful people.Kay Synott Living Gardens gave us a great talk on some of the rare butterflies on Inchagoill and great tips on some of the plant life we should have in our gardens to ensure their future.Dr Gordon Bromley also gave us an interesting talk on Inchagoill's complex geology and that Inchagoill is in existence alot longer than most of us previously thought.
The day was finished off by some traditional older tunes from sisters Breda and Noreen Keville around the open fire.A great day had by all on a National Treasure Inchagoill.
