With the new school year getting closer, some families are still facing uncertainty over school transport.

Under the School Transport Scheme, parents may make their payment without yet knowing for certain whether their child will ultimately receive a seat.

Bus ร‰ireannโ€™s terms and conditions state that requesting a ticket does **not guarantee a seat**. Where a child cannot be accommodated, the payment is refunded once seating has been fully allocated.

But for parents trying to organise work, childcare and school runs, getting the money back doesn't necessarily solve the bigger problem:

**How is your child actually going to get to school?**

Recent reports have highlighted families who previously had school transport but are now without a confirmed place, as well as parents entering the scheme for the first time who are still unsure whether a seat will become available.
