In what is sure to be a highlight in the cultural calendar, outdoor sculpture exhibition Vanishing Art makes its first annual appearance at Carton House in Co. The exhibition is open 7 days a week from 10am -5.30pm. The historic estate of Carton House, once the ancestral seat of the Earls of Kildare and Dukes of Leinster, provides the perfect backdrop for one of Ireland’s most exciting development
s in sculptural exhibition. Carton House, one of Ireland’s acclaimed luxury destinations, is renowned for it’s hospitality and leisure facilities, in modern and stylish settings. Earlier this year it played host to the Irish Open 2013 Golf tournament, garnering universal praise for the four day event which amassed a total of 81,379 visitors. With this sporting reputation in mind, Vanishing Art is delighted to announce its arrival at carton house and hopes to provide a unique cultural experience to a wide variety of visitors. Vanishing Art is built upon the concept of freeing artwork from the confines of the traditional exhibition context. It is a transformative process, the natural environment becoming an outdoor gallery. The juxtaposition of these created works set amongst natural surroundings creates new and engaging dialogues between the artworks themselves and the exhibition space, dialogues that would not occur within a traditional gallery setting. The artworks will be displayed throughout the grounds of the estate, with a small number of pieces being displayed within the historic mansion house itself, providing a rich and unique viewing experience for visitors. The exhibition displays a diverse array of styles and showcases the dynamic range of work being produced in Irish art. Vanishing Art aims to provide artists with a unique platform to showcase their work, as well as supporting local businesses through increased footfall to the area, and also inviting potential tourism to the area. Vanishing Art promises to be a cultural event that Maynooth can be proud to host.
