The Munster Final may not have went his way today but there was a silver lining when Dan O’Brien claimed victory on the links. On a day of rolling showers early on followed by increasing winds, the links, looking fabulous, bared its teeth. No one would reach the handicap target of 36 points but Dan was steady and came closest with a battling 35 points. Brendan Gillespie was second with 34 points on a break of tie from Gerard Mc Elwee who claimed third place with our Captain Cathal Doherty 3 points shy of playing to his handicap getting fourth with 33 points. Well done to Dan and all our prize winners.

We have 2 teams in action over the weekend and both against the same opposition. John Hyland’s 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿’𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 heads to Letterkenny on Saturday afternoon for the second leg of their first round match. Cruit won 4-1 at home a few weeks ago,so at least a match will be required in Barnhill if we wish to advance. First match is on the tee at 2pm.

Then on Sunday evening Cruit host Letterkenny in the 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲. It’s the first round, first leg and team captain Myles Sweeney will be hoping for a strong home result. First match is on the tee at 3.40 pm.

Good luck to John, Myles and all our players representing the club over the weekend 🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♂️⛳️

Our first stroke competition of the year yesterday and no one will be surprised to see the winner was Johndy Boyle. Rarely making a mistake, stroke suits Johndy down to the ground. He did unusually have a hiccup or two on the front 9 and turned at the clubhouse 6 over par but a sensational back 9 of 1 under would leave Johndy signing for a 65 and leaving him in a strong position if a break of tie was required, which it was. There were two other 65’s, Martin Doherty starting to get back to his best after a long lay off was second while John Michael O’Donnell secured third. John Mc Garvey was fourth with 66 with Patrick O’Donnell and Caolan Hanlon getting the 9’s. Well done to Johndy and all our prize winners.
