Sometimes you come across a special plant with a strange history. This plant is called a Lords and Ladies. Quite poisonous so not for foragers, but its such an unusual plant that grows everywhere in Courtown Woods and I am often asked what it is.
The crazy history behind this plant involves its roots, which can go more than a foot or two down into the ground, a heavy tuber its filled with starch, and was actually used to stiffen those ridiculously silly looking ruffs or collars worn by the Tudor Lords and Ladies, hence the name!

Flashback to last winter and a misty beginning to the Gendalough Goddess Tour and some of the ones in between. What began as a simple walk, turned into a way to connect with women from all over the world. This walk, sharing our stories of powerful Goddesses has become a powerful experience.
Relating to unheard tales of women living thousands of years ago, connecting them to our own challenges, while visiting the ancient well and sitting by the lake can be a profound and healing day while also being so much fun!

So grab your girlfriends, your mum, your sisters and join me for a wonderful magical morning in Glendalough, connecting with the land and hearing with stories of Banba, Eirú, Morrigan, Bríd and Macha and many more warrior women and druids!
