As Ireland’s oldest city, Waterford is steeped in over 1,000 years of history. Today, Waterford Treasures Museum brings that story to life through an exceptional collection of artefacts discovered across the city. Among these remarkable pieces is the Gold ring brooch. The 22 carat gold ring brooch with blue and green glass stones, found by archaeologist Orla Scully in Bakehouse Lane, is among the oldest European medieval ring brooches. It was given as a love token and closed a cloak or dress at the neck. Waterford in the 1200s – a time of courtly love and chivalry – was extremely wealthy. The objects/artefacts are displayed in Waterford Treasures Museum, discover more www.waterfordtreasures.com
