“He waited 10 years to go home to his family… but the war kept cancelling his flights. We refused to let him miss the most important moments of his daughters’ lives.”
A Travel Agent Story During Difficult Times ✈️
Kuya Rodel booked his ticket to go home to Manila on March 3.
But when the war started, his flight was cancelled.
This trip meant everything to him.
After 10 long years working in Israel, this was supposed to be his first vacation back home.
And he had two very important reasons to go home:
💍 His daughter is getting married
🎓 His other daughter is graduating
He kept telling me,
“Sis Please help me… I cannot miss these moments.”
Maiiyak na talaga si Kuya eh.
On March 8, I managed to book him another ticket with El Al for a March 9 flight.
But when he arrived at the airport, it was total chaos.
People were angry, shouting, even fighting, trying to secure flights.
Everyone just wanted to leave.
Then another heartbreaking moment happened…
His flight was cancelled again, and his name was not even on the passenger list.
Kuya was devastated again.
He didn’t know what to do na.
My husband and I kept reassuring him to stay calm and pray a little more, saying:
“You will get home.”🤞
I kept checking his booking again and again until finally we saw that his flight was moved to March 12 at 23:55.
Even his employer was messaging and calling me, asking for updates about his flight.
Times like this, it’s very difficult for travel agents, because when airlines cancel flights, there is very little we can control.
Then suddenly another change happened.
His flight was moved to an earlier time.
At first we thought it was good news…
but another problem appeared.
His connecting flight was cancelled.
So we had to act fast and buy another ticket from Bangkok to Manila to make sure his journey could continue.
When he sent a photo of himself checking in at the airport and another photo from the plane, we were so happy and relieved.
We congratulated him and celebrated this small but meaningful victory .
he was finally on his way home. ✈️❤️
After all the stress, uncertainty, and sleepless nights…
He is now home with his family. ❤️
Moments like this remind me that being a travel agent is not just about booking tickets.
It’s about helping people get home after years of sacrifice.
Because behind every ticket is a story.
A father who hasn’t hugged his children for years.
A family waiting.
A daughter walking down the aisle.
A graduation day that a father doesn’t want to miss.
And in the middle of all the chaos and uncertainty…
We never stopped trying to find a way to bring him home. ❤️✈️
