Lot 74:

Created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Universal Geneve in April of 1994, this watch is the definition of unique – only one was ever made.

Drawing its inspiration from the Cabriolet range of the late 1920’s, the 18K rose gold and platinum case features dual faces with diurnal and nocturnal indication and a jumping hour hand.

Face A comprises white sapphire, lapis lazuli, and meteorite, while blue mother of pearl completes Face B.

A Hublot TMT Carbon Gold. Hublot is well-known for their partnerships in the world of sports, and to celebrate Floyd Mayweather’s 50-0 record, they collaborated with the famous fighter to produce two limited edition watches, of which the Carbon Gold is one (only 100 made). It is loud and bombastic, in keeping with the champion’s nickname ‘Money’.
This watch sees the first use of carbon fiber encrusted with 3N gold, in a process that manually places gold powder between the carbon layers before it is compressed. The texture of the carbon fiber beautifully subdues the gaudiness sometimes associated with gold. The legibility is also good, with the gold hands and sub-dials contrasting well against the matte black skeleton.
The straps are calf leather with python and gold stud details, reminiscent of the shorts Mayweather wore with his victory over Connor McGregor. At the noon position, there is a gold applique TMT logo, representing Floyd’s The Money Team lifestyle brand. The sapphire case back is emblazoned with TBE – The Best Ever.
The watch has a diameter of 45mm, and is 15.45mm thick. The case houses a HUB1242 Unico movement.
