Ruins Tour in the Mountains of Jerusalem can be surprising! In 16kms we covered 6 different Ruins sites of 6 ancient villages from the Roman-Byzantine period until the Ottoman period. We had such a great day full and reach with interesting stories about the life and the people who lived on the mountains.

Wine and Spiritual experience in Deir Rafat Monastery, which is also known as the "Shrine of Our Lady Queen of the Holy Land".

The church at the centre of this place is decorated with 280 translations of different languages to the words of Angel Gabriel to Mary: 'Hail Mary'.
The establishment of this catholic monastery in 1927 came as an answer and an act of protection for the land after a devastating earthquake that happened in the same year.

The place also has a winery so you can grab yourself a drink and enjoy this beautiful place.

Luckily, some chose to treat bodies in burial caves such as those in the pictures, so we could come today, find them, and use our imagination to see into their lives. Typically, those caves were used by very wealthy families who can afford this expensive realestate to host dead bodies to rot, in order to collect the bones a year later for permanent burial.

I went with a tough group of men to explore Samson Cave, one of the largest caves in Jerusalem Mountains Region!

The cave is located on the side of the mountain, hanging above Sorek Valley, and called after the legendary Israelite warrior and judge - Samson - who used his physical strength for 20 years against the Philistines.

Samson was known to be an active figure that led the Israelites from this area and therefore he was honored with a cave named after him!

Perhaps he used to climb to this cave to reflect on his life 3000 years back.
