𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗗𝗮𝘆 ✨
Prayagraj is home to three most significant museums of the country, 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 - 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗻 - 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁. While the Allahabad National Museum (1863) is a museum of national importance it boasts of 16 dedicated galleries of artifacts related to Art, History, Archaeology, Architecture and Literature from prominent sites across the continent that ranges from 40,000 BCE to 21st Century. Here the modern art gallery has an exquisite collection of Nicholas Roerich’s paintings. Roerich was a legendry Russian painter, writer, archaeologist and philosopher and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by the University of Paris in 1929 with having two more nominations in 1932 and 1935. While Allahabad Museum is one among the 10 Roerich Halls all over the world, in the art world one of his paintings was priced at $12M auctioned in London in 2013. The museum has the largest Terracotta collection in the world.
𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗻 (𝟭𝟵𝟮𝟲 - 𝟮𝟳): A residential museum which served home to the Nehru family till Mid 20th Century (1946) as the original mansion Swaraj Bhavan: the abode of freedom (then Anand Bhavan) was transformed into the local headquarters of the Indian National Congress in 1930 during the Civil Disobedience Movement. The museum has a Gandhi room where he used to stay very often during his visits in Allahabad where one can see Gandhi’s personal affects especially his sacred Gita and the charkha that are neatly stationed in the room.
𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 (𝟭𝟴𝟲𝟲): An avant-garde museology wonder with having an interesting collection of medieval era historical judgments, dress, furniture and rare artifacts consisting the original charter of Queen Victoria of 1866 by which the High Court was created, Compromise Deed hand written by Tulsidas ji - bearing seal of Qazi Benares, 1975 election petition of Indira Gandhi, the Chauri Chaura case of 1922, original Mughal farmaans dating 1572 to 1665 and many more…
