रेल मार्ग
नजदीकी रेल जंक्‍शन काठगोदाम है। जहां से बस या टैक्‍सी द्वारा कौसानी पहुंचा जा सकता है।

सड़क मार्ग
दिल्‍ली के आईएसबीटी आनन्द विहार बस अड्डे से कौसानी के लिए नियमित रुप से बसें चलती हैं। प्रदेश के अन्‍य जिले से भी बस द्वारा कौसानी जाया जा सकता है।

दिल्‍ली से रूट: राष्‍ट्रीय राजमार्ग 24 से हापुड़, गजरौली और मुरादाबाद होते हुए रामनगर, राष्‍ट्रीय राजमार्ग ८७ से रुद्रपुर, हल्‍द्वानी, काठगोदाम, रानीबाग, भोवाली, खैना्र और सुआलबारी होते हुए अल्‍मोड़ा, राज्‍य राजमार्ग से अल्‍मोड़ा और सोमेश्‍वर होते हुए कौसानी।

अब जो टीवी स्क्रीन पर रो रहे हैं, उन्हें मालूम पड़ रहा है, पहाड़ कैसा होता है. अब तक तो भगवान से मिलने आते थे, पहली बार पहाड़ से सामना हुआ. भाई लोग, अब तो तुमने पहाड़ को थोड़ा समझ लिया है...आगे कोशिश करना पहाड़ और उसके वाशिंदों को समझने की. उनके बारे में जो भी कहना, यूं ही मत कह देना. तुम तो चार दिन में ही थक गए. सेना ने तुम्हें बचा लिया. फिर भी डरे सहमे हो. हम यहाँ रोज ऐसेइच हालातों में रहते हैं. तुम्हारे मन में बसा 'रोमांचक पहाड़' कितनी जल्दी काफूर हो गया. हमें इन पहाड़ों ने न जाने कितना मारा-कितना सताया, मगर हम उनसे अब भी बेइंतहा मोहब्बत करते हैं. कभी पेड़ों की हिफाज़त के लिए उनसे चिपट जाते हैं. कभी नदियों को बचाने के लिए उनमें उतर जाते हैं. भक्तजनों समझना ! ईश्वर की माया का भ्रम टूटे तो समझना. उन महिलाओं को समझना जो ऐसी ही डांडियों-कांठियों से घास के तिनके चुनने हर सुबह घर से निकलती

Overview & Best Season of Kasauni
Kasauni experiences a moderate climate. Summers (March - May) are pleasant with a maximum temperature 25°C and a minimum of 11°C. During winters the maximum temperature is 15°C and the minimum comes down as low as 2°C. Winters are accompanied with heavy snowing. Monsoons (June - August) makes the hilly regions slippery and have medium rainfalls.

Best period to trek in Kasauni is post monsoons, post winters and summer. During this period clear views of meadows, waterfalls and pine forests in the trekking route are assured.

Best time to visit Kasauni is from September to May

Anashakti Ashram, popularly known as Gandhi Ashram, is a highly revered ashram, which was blessed with the stay of Mahatma Gandhi some days. It was during that period Mahatma Gandhi had written the commentary on Anashkti Yog.

The Ashram is a very calm and secluded location. It is placed in the backdrop of scenic surroundings, with majestic views of Himalayan ranges all around. The Ashram and the surrounding locations are ideal spots for relieving the mind from physical pleasures and sufferings. One can do meditation in the calm atmosphere of the Ashram without any disturbance of the outside world.

Kausani is famous for it’s breathtakingly close view of the Himalayan Peaks and it’s solitudes and greenery. The wide expanse of the famous Katyur Valley lies in front of it as you wake up to experience the Kausani sunrise. Kausani’s beauty arrested the feet of even Mahatama Gandhi, who stayed for some time at this place. The memory that brief stay of that great man lingers behind in the Anasakti Ashrama. Another great man of India the famous Hindi poet Sumitra Nandan Pant was born here. There is small museum to earmark that sacred spot. The famous folk singer Gopidas was also inspired by the beauty of Kausani. Pinnath (10KMs), Bura Pinnath (5KMs) and Bhakot are the highest points near Kausani.

Pant Museum

The famous poet of Hindi literature, Sumitranandan Pant was born at Kausani. A little away from the bus stand is a museum named after him. The house which has the museum is the poet's house of his childhood days. His daily use articles, drafts of his poems, letters, his awards etc. are displayed here.
