The Road which would eventually connect Machail Village in Padar Valley in Kishtwar with Gulabgarh which is the main Village in the Padar Tehsil. This is a rare Video of that side as we never hear much of this area.

A Video of us driving through the Ice Field on the top of the Margan Pass and the gradually descending into the Kashmir Valley.

Unlike other Passes the Margan Pass has a small Valley on top which runs for a few kms and resembles an Ice field during the Winters and well into May when the Pass usually opens for Traffic.

Though the neighbouring Sinthan Pass which connects Kashmir with Kishtwar Main sees a lot of Tourists now during the Summers there are hardly any Tourists who make their way up the Margan Pass.

There are a couple of Alpine Lakes within Hiking distance from the Pass and thats probably the closest you can get to these Lakes by Car.

So here's a GoPro Video of us going upto the Kaobal Gali and this Video has Narration as well explaining the importance of this Pass and why its off limits.
Many people Inbox me aslking about this Pass. So here are some FAQs asked which ill answer briefly.

How to get Permission - The Permission can only be granted by the IA. So either from the Chinar Corp HQ or from the Commander on Ground. However there are Reports that there is a proposal to open for Tourists.

Road Condition - The Road condition varies from kinda OK to bad and if it Rains then its hell. Do not even think of attempting this Pass in anything less than a 4x4.
Driver Ability - Please attempt only if you have Experience of Driving in the Mountains otherwise forget it.

Weather - The Road is pretty prone to Lanslides which are triggered mostly by Rains / Bad Weather. Pray for good Weather.

And just in case you dont get Permission ill suggest an alternative. Go back to Kashmir and then go over the Zoji La and get to Drass.

From Drass there is a Road which goes directly to Sankoo in the Suru Valley over the Umba La.

At almost 4500 m its a good 1000 ft higher than Umba La and the drive isnt for the faiint hearted.

Glimpses from our Epic LOC Unravel 2023 last year which culminated with a bang on top of the Kaobal Gali.

An Epic adventure around Kashmir touching all the main areas along the LoC, the first time such an Adventure carried out with most of the Participants coming from outside Kashmir.
