⚠️ Karnataka Trekking Rules Update 🏕️
Planning a trek in Karnataka forests? Please note these new official rules by the Forest Department 👇
🚫 Trekking without a certified nature guide is NOT allowed
👥 1 guide is mandatory for every 10 trekkers (even for solo trekkers)
📝 Online registration is compulsory through the Aranya Vihaara portal
📍 Only approved forest department trekking routes are allowed
🌙 No night trekking / overnight trekking allowed
📊 Maximum 150 trekkers per day across approved routes
🏔️ Trails are divided into:
🟢 Easy
🟡 Moderate
🔴 Advanced
❌ Strictly prohibited:
🔊 Loud music / speakers
🔥 Campfires
🗑️ Littering
🥤 Single-use plastics
⚔️ Weapons / sharp metal objects
📸 Flash photography
🚷 Leaving the marked trail
🩺 Senior citizens may need a medical fitness certificate
👨👩👧 Minors need parent/guardian consent
🐘 Trekking may be cancelled if wildlife movement is detected nearby
This SOP was introduced for better safety after recent missing trekker incidents.
