Gond community & The Legend of the Tadoba Temples
🐅
Ever wondered what these beautiful statue of Tigers represent? If you've been to Tadoba, you'll find this often times. And ofcourse there's a story behind them. Just like the "Taru" temple & Gond Pillers, these status of Tigers add on to the rich history of Tadoba
🐅
The statue are more like a temple built by the people of Gond Community. They are built when, in a human-animal conflict (tiger attack to be specific), a human looses his life
🐅
People of Gond Community consider Tigers sacred. And death gifted by a Tiger allows one to transcend the cycle of life, death and rebirth
🐅
These temples are built when a member of tribe falls to a tiger attack and every year on their death anniversary, all members of the family visit the temple.
🐅
Since they can't build these temples in the core area anymore, these temples can be seen near the entrance gates of Tadoba
