I received a call today from a person named Saravanan saying he is calling from Sterling Customer Service. He called asking for a payment of Rs 591 in regards to AMC. That person also said that he will send an email with a link for me to pay the payment. He correctly said my customer number. But, when he asked for my email ID, I told him that it should be available in their system. For that, he laid out some excuses citing he is Working From Home and his system is slow. He later said that he will send me the email after looking into the database for my email ID. I am not sure if that call was authentic from Sterling or fake from a scammer. Just wanted to inform you all of my interaction so you can be aware.

Timeshare Frauds; How to cheat innocent people ?

Simply promise them that "With this membership, you can enjoy future holidays at today's prices", knowing very well that its not true. something extra is always paid every year in addition to the initial payment, which keeps increasing every year.

Also falsely assure them that "Pay once and discover a wide range of resorts, destinations and curated experiences for the next 25 years," when you are going to charge them again and again, year after year, on various charges like ASF/AMC, Utility Charges, Guest Fee, etc apart from this one time payment.

If one calculates the interest on the amount invested, present value of the money, ASF/AMC paid every year - whether you use the timeshare or not, Utility Charges, Guest Fee, GSt, Taxes, services Charges, etc, its absolute waste of money.

They only have a few places and other places are "tie-up" - not owned by them.

Member is not assured of holidays whereas non-members can get it.

Someone has plenty of money and time, they have three options to waste their money: ULIPs, Gold or Time Share !

Dear STOWA Members,

We are delighted to inform you all that STOWA has procured a Stay for AAC Annual Amenity Charges in City Civil Court vis a vis one Case against Sterling Holiday Resorts till the 6th June....Thanks to the efforts by our Lawyer Mr.Thirumalai sir.

A good beginning has been made and the battle with SHRIL will continue.... We at STOWA are contemplating a strategy to obtain STAY on AAC for all and subsequently abolishing of AAC...

Other cases are in Consumer courts and due follow up action will perpetuated.

This is what they promised originally and made us invest in time shares. But look at what happens now ? Let's unite to Request Government to bring in a regulation and regulate them to safeguard and protect the Investors.

Look at the total costs involved to enjoy a time share:

1. The initial amount paid to buy the TS.
2. AMC/ASF pais annually
3. This AMC/ASF keep rising every year and have to pay that also.
4. Utility Charges for Electricity & Water !
5. Guest Fee - which also keeps rising every year!
6. Exorbitantly priced food in the resort
7. Expensive Taxi Charges - as they are located in remote places
8. Prohibitive high cost sight seeing trips

Not only that; other issues:

1. Nonavailability when we need it
2. Opaque & non-transparent bookings
3. Selling of TS Owner"s holidays to others to make money
4. Totally unregulated

Caveat Emptor - Buyers beware !
