With over a decade of experience in leading Red Panda Expeditions in Singalila National Park, Sourav Mondal is the driving force behind Firefox Expeditions. A passionate naturalist and a subject matter expert on the elusive Red Panda, Sourav has dedicated his life to exploring, conserving, and educating others about this critically endangered species.
Sourav’s journey began with a love for the Eastern Himalayas, which soon transformed into a mission: to empower local communities and promote conservation through sustainable eco-tourism. Firefox Expeditions was born out of this vision — a community-driven initiative that now includes not just naturalists and trackers, but also local drivers, field staff, and homestay families eager to learn and engage with wildlife conservation.
An exceptional birder, Sourav is widely recognized as one of the finest bird guides in the Singalila landscape. His deep knowledge extends beyond Singalila — he has successfully led birding tours across Northeast India and Ladakh, earning the admiration of wildlife enthusiasts from around the world.
During winters, Sourav switches terrain to lead Snow Leopard Expeditions in Spiti Valley, further expanding the Firefox footprint. Over the years, he has built a skilled and passionate team of expert trackers, guides, and conservation ambassadors who carry forward his ethos of responsible tourism and wildlife stewardship.
