Long before they used scantily-clad teen models in highly controversial advertising campaigns, Abercrombie & Fitch was considered the preeminent outdoor goods retailer in America. Founded in New York City in 1892, the merchant retailer began selling high-end outdoor gear and apparel through extensive catalogs in 1903. By 1907, the catalog featured mountaineer boots, which were sold in two styles. The smaller ankle-size version sold for $8.50, while the taller calf boot sold for $9.00, which would be roughly the equivalent of $316 in today's dollars. Compared to other boots marketed to hikers at that time, the Abercrombie & Fitch boots appear to have far more in common with modern hiking boots than the others.

After days of relentless trekking, unpredictable terrain, and bone-chilling temperatures, our team has successfully completed the season 1st expedition to Kang -Yatshe 2 , Markha Valley , Leh

But this wasn't just any climb—it was a battle against nature itself. From the very beginning, the mountain tested our resolve. Sudden snowstorms, sub-zero winds, and whiteout conditions forced us to halt progress more than once. Camp routines became survival drills, and every step forward demanded not just physical strength, but mental endurance.

Despite the harsh weather, our spirit never wavered. Guided by strong leadership, team unity, and unwavering determination, we adapted, endured, and pushed through. Every sunrise after a storm reminded us why we started this journey—to challenge our limits and stand tall where few dare to tread.

This summit was not just a destination, but a symbol of perseverance.

The mountain was mighty, but the human spirit proved mightier.

Reinhold Messner, All Fourteen 8,000ers, 1999.

Wikipedia says this about Messner: He made the first solo ascent of Mount Everest and, along with Peter Habeler, the first ascent of Everest without supplemental oxygen. He was the first person to climb all 14 eight-thousanders, doing so without supplementary oxygen. Messner was the first to cross Antarctica and Greenland with neither snowmobiles nor dog sleds and also crossed the Gobi Desert alone. He is widely considered as the greatest mountaineer of all time.
