Bhawisya Badri: {The Future Badri}

It is believed that when Kaliyug comes, the arm (the one which is becoming thinner year by year) of the idol of Lord Narsingh Bhagwan at Joshimath will break, and the mountains Jay and Vijay at Patmila near Vishnuprayag will collapse, thus making the present shrine of Sri Badrinathji inaccessible. Sri Badrinathji will reappear and be worshipped in a new shrine at Bhawisya Badri. Even now, Bhawisya Badri is worshipped in a small temple there. Bhawisya Badri is situated at a height of 2744 mtr in dense woods. It is nearly 19 km from Joshimath on the road to Malari. The first 16 km are motorable and the last 3-km is to be trekked. A new motor road from Tapoban to Bhawisya Badri is under construction.
