Heading south out of Goa and into the neighbouring state of Karnataka, a major stopping-off point for travellers and Indian pilgrims alike is Gokarna, which sits on a secluded seaside spot around 90km south of Palolem. A mix of Hindu rituals and a medieval way of life is on show at this village, whose ambience is heightened during festivals such as Shivaratri and Ganesh Chaturthi. While the main village is conservative in its outlook, a few out-of-town beaches are custom-made for carefree sunbaking.

Gangotri is situated at an altitude of 3,048mts above sea level in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand state. Located on the banks of the holy Bhagirathi River, Gangotri is one of the Char Dham of Uttarakhand.

It is the highest and the most important temple of river Ganga which is worshipped as a Goddess in India. Gangotri is a small town centred around the temple of Ganga. The present temple at Gangotri was built by Amar Singh Thapa, Gorkha General in the early 18th century.

The origin of Bhagirathi (Ganga) River is at Gaumukh glacier which is at a distance of 18kms from Gangotri and one must cover the distance on foot. Gangotri offers scenic vistas of rugged terrains, gushing water of Bhagirathi River and snow clad peaks. The place holds great importance amongst Hindus. Gangotri remains opened from May and gets closed on the occasion of Diwali festival. Gangotri temple remains closed during winters as the region is prone to heavy snowfall.

UNESCO World Heritage of Khajuraho::

The exotic temples of Khajuraho, built between the tenth and twelfth centuries are considered to be the greatest architectural achievement of the Chandela dynasty. After years of abandonment, the temples were restored (and are continuing to be restored) to their former glory and are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Of the original 80 temples that were once constructed just over 20 remain, scattered amongst the 20km square of parkland that makes up the sight

The Ka*****ra carvings that swathe Khajuraho's three groups of temples are among the finest temple art in the world. The temples are superb examples of Indo-Aryan architecture, but it's their liberally embellished carvings that have made Khajuraho famous. Around the temples are bands of exceedingly artistic stonework showing a storyboard of life a millennium ago – gods, goddesses, warriors, musicians, and real and mythological animals.
