Darjeeling Kalimpong Tour Package: Darjeeling, as we all know, is the "Queen of Hills". It is aptly named so as it provides the most magnificent view of the Kanchenjunga, beautiful tea gardens on the slopes of rolling hills, the orchids, pines and rhododendrons, the cute Himalayan toy train whistling its way through the mountains. 5 Days Darjeeling-Kalimpong Tour Itinerary
DAY-1 : Arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP)/ Bagdogra Airport and start your 3hrs journey towards Kalimpong. Kalimpong is a historical destination on the old silk route situated on the foothills of the Himalayas at an elevation of 1243 meters / 4078 feet. Your journey towards this buzzing town will be full of serene sights of lofty green mountains and Roaring River Teesta.
After covering 23km offer short prayer in Sevoke Kalibari (temple of goddess Kali) on Sevoke road, to take the blessings for a safe onward journey through the winding roads of the mountains. It's a nice way to start the uphill journey. Sevoke Kali Temple is near to banks of waterway Teesta and has rich greenery all around.
Reach Kalimpong after covering approx 75km and check into the hotel. After freshening up you have the rest of the day to yourself, take a stroll around the local market for relics and handicrafts. Stay overnight at Kalimpong.
DAY-2: Have breakfast at the hotel. Then, proceed for the local sightseeing of Kalimpong from Durbin Dara Hills. There is a Tibetan monastery located on the Durpin hill named Durpin Monastery. From the upper terrace of the monastery, you will get a magnificent view of Kalimpong town with Kanchenjunga in the background, the valley and the plains, Teesta and Reang Rivers flowing down, and lovely tea estates of Peshoke area, Pine view Cactus Nursery it has a great collection of cactus and ornamental plants.
Moreover, You will get a great view of Kalimpong town from the backside lawn, Mangal Dham it is an excellent temple complex built in the memory of late Guruji Mangal Dasji and dedicated to Lord Krishna. Dr Graham's Homes School was set up by Dr J A Graham in 1900 as an orphanage cm school for the destitute Anglo Indian children. It is located on the way to Dello Hills and you can walk across to various parts of the school. Have lunch on the way to Deolo Hills.
Deollo Hills is an 8-acre lush parkland with manicured flower gardens and several viewpoints with breathtaking views of Kanchenjunga, Hanuman Mandir perched on the hill a short hike towards this temple offers a serene and picturesque view of the Kanchenjunga peak in its full glory and on a sunny day neighboring the state of Sikkim and the surrounding landscapes of lava and Kafer hills is also clearly visible. After sightseeing, you are free to either relax in your hotel rooms or to explore the local market for handmade merchandise and mouth-watering local and Chinese cuisine. Stay overnight at Kalimpong.
DAY-3: On day 3 of your Darjeeling Kalimpong Tour Package, have early breakfast at the hotel. Later, start your journey towards the Queen of the hills Darjeeling (65 kilometres 2½ - 3 hours) which is filled with lush green forests and tea gardens. One can stop at the viewpoint of ‘Lovers Meet' from where the confluence of river Teesta and Rangeet can be seen.
On the way to Darjeeling, there is a small picturesque village called Lamahatta where you can experience silence and beauty of Nature. Seductive garden, watchtower, beautiful blossoms of orchids, prayer flags that waves along with the direction of winds making it an ideal place amidst the nature to take a break from 3hr journey and have lunch while enjoying the beautiful view of Mt Kanchenjunga or take a stroll in the well-manicured garden within the village. This place is sure to rejuvenate you for the rest of your journey.
Continue your journey towards Darjeeling and now it's only 23km to go from Lamahatta. After arriving at Darjeeling check into the hotel and freshen up, you have the rest of the evening to yourself, take a stroll in the mall or sit on a peripheral bench in Chowrasta for a while, relax and enjoy the ambience and watch the activities.
DAY-4: Wake up early in the morning for a 3 point tour of Tiger hill to see one of the most mesmerizing sunrises. Old Ghoom Monastery, one of the oldest Tibetan monasteries built in Darjeeling and Batasia Loop where the toy train takes a dramatic loop and negotiates an altitude of 140ft. this tour will be over by 8:30 am. Return to hotel and after breakfast proceeds for the sightseeing of Darjeeling covering Himalayan Mountaineering Institute where you can see the climbing walls and a museum filled with artefacts and gears used by Tenzing Norgay for his first expedition to Mt Everest.
Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park which houses two of the most endangered species with different animals found in the Himalayan region, Tenzing Rock where you can let loose your inner adventurer and do rock climbing with a help of a guide even if you don't know the basic, Tibetan Refugee self-help Centre You will see Tibetan men and women making exquisite handcrafted items like woollen shawls and carpets, carved wooden crafts, leather jackets, coats and lots of other items, Tea Estate (outer view).
Darjeeling visit is incomplete without seeing the lush tea garden for which it is worldwide renowned. Passenger Ropeway lets you see and enjoy the picturesque view of the valley while travelling over the clouds giving you slight chill and Japanese temple, Peace Pagoda where you can feel the peace and tranquillity since it is known as the sign of brotherhood and harmony, lunch on the way. This tour will take around 4-5 hrs depending on the road condition. Take some rest at the hotel take an evening stroll and relax in the Shurberry Nightingale Park an ideal place for a relaxing evening with your loved ones when the park is covered in beautiful colourful lights making it feel like a wonderland.
DAY-5: This is the last day of your Darjeeling Kalimpong Tour Package. So, have breakfast at the hotel and get ready to say your farewell to Darjeeling. Start your 4hr journey towards Siliguri via Mirik. Mirik is a small picturesque town famous for its orange orchards and Sumendu Lake or Mirik Jhill Surrounded by lush tea gardens, orange orchards, cardamom plantations and forests of tall, dark Japanese cedars which are a quite alluring sight.
Enjoy the beauty of this small town while boating in Mirik Jhill or take a tour around the lake while riding a horse, either way; it's a great place to enjoy the lunch with your loved ones and a great way to end your Darjeeling Visit.
