Tourist Safety Gets Priority | Telangana Tourism Launches Dedicated Tourist Police
India is known for its rich culture of hospitality — “Atithi Devo Bhava” reflects the nation’s commitment to welcoming guests with respect and care. Tourism not only generates revenue but also brings global recognition, making it a crucial sector for development.
With growing tourist inflow and recent untoward incidents raising concerns, the state government has taken a proactive step by launching a dedicated Tourist Police unit. These specially trained police officers are deployed at major tourist destinations to ensure visitors feel safe, guided, and supported.
The Tourist Police will:
• Assist tourists with guidance and information
• Provide quick help during emergencies
• Prevent harassment and unwanted incidents
• Enhance overall safety at tourist destinations
Already deployed at several key tourist spots, the initiative is receiving positive feedback from tourists and locals alike, strengthening trust and improving the travel experience.

Hyderabad, January 7: The Telangana government will organise a series of major cultural and tourism events in Hyderabad this month, including the International Kite and Sweet Festival, a hot air balloon show and a mega drone show, aimed at showcasing the State’s rich cultural heritage and promoting tourism, Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said on Wednesday. Briefing the media at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat, the Minister, along with Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC) Managing Director Kranthi Valluri, NITHM Director Venkataramana and representatives of Culture Language Indian Connections (CLIC), shared details of the events planned as part of the Sankranti celebrations.
