💔🌧️Darjeeling Landslides Havoc | Our Mountain Guide Raju Needs Us
Those who have trekked with Raju and Himalayan High already know how cheerful, humble, caring, and respectful he was — always smiling, guiding safely, and sometimes even cooking delicious meals at camp. He must have saved many lives on the mountains, but today, he needs help and support.
On Oct 5, a massive landslide in Maneybhanjyang (Darjeeling) buried the home of our dear guide, Raju Chhetri, while he was away leading trekkers to Sandakphu. He lost his mother, elder daughter, and 3 other close relatives who had gathered for Dashain Tika.
Only Raju, his wife, and younger daughter survive.
Raju has no home left. He’s currently staying in a community hall, performing the 13-day funeral rituals. When that ends, he’ll have nowhere to return. Rebuilding even a small home will cost around ₹4 lakhs, and I’m trying to help him raise that amount. 🙏
