Blue sheep (Bharal) sighted in the Raktisar region of the Great Himalayan National Park.
Perched high above the tree line, where the mountains turn raw and the air grows thin, the Bharal (Pseudois nayaur) thrives on steep, rocky slopes and alpine meadows — a true symbol of Himalayan resilience.
Known for its incredible agility, the blue sheep blends almost magically with the grey-blue hues of the cliffs, making sightings like these rare and special. Their presence here in GHNP reflects a healthy alpine ecosystem, one that also supports elusive predators like the snow leopard and Himalayan wolf.
In Raktisar, life in the high mountains is unforgiving — survival belongs to the sure-footed and the silent observers of the wilderness. Moments like these remind us why we ride, trek, and protect these mountains with everything we have.
