A historic moment for Indian aviation ✈️🇮🇳

An IndiGo Airbus A320 just made history as the first commercial passenger jet in India to successfully execute a precision landing using GAGAN (GPS Aided GEO Augmented Navigation) - India's homegrown satellite based navigation augmentation system.

The aircraft completed a Localiser Performance with Vertical Guidance (LPV) approach at Udaipur Airport, guiding the massive jet down smoothly without relying on conventional, expensive ground based radio beams.

Developed jointly by ISRO - Indian Space Research Organization and the Airports Authority of India, GAGAN acts as a hyper accurate proofreader for standard GPS signals, correcting atmospheric distortions in realtime to submeter accuracy.

With this milestone, India firmly positions itself as one of the elite few nations globally with its own operational Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS) capability.
