🏔️ Sitting at 4,166 m above sea level, Key Monastery (Kye Gompa) is the largest and oldest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh.
📜 Built over 1,000 years ago, it’s a living museum of Buddhist art with ancient murals, scriptures & priceless thangkas.
👀 Its unique fortress-like architecture looks like a “monastery made of stacked houses” on a hilltop, overlooking the turquoise Spiti River.
🧘‍♂️ Even today, it’s home to 300+ monks, echoing chants that blend with the valley’s silence.
🌌 Whether you come for spirituality, history, or just the surreal views—it’s a place that feels like time stands still.
