In our household however, we add a lot of different vegetables to this rice preparation.

Puliyogare or 'Tamarind Rice' is a very common rice preparation in South India. Puliyogare can be served alone or with some 'sandige'...a fried savory, curd or fesh kosambari. This tamarind rice is also served as prasada (offering) not only in temples but also after religious ceremonies like a puja. Puliyogare is very flavourful and tastes spicy, slightly sweet and sour.
It is a great travel food and speaking for our family, we can relish it anytime of the day.

Kadi patta or curry leaves is a staple in Indian dishes. Commonly used in seasoning, this leaf adds a special flavour to each and every dish. This humble curry leaf is packed with iron, calcium, fibre, vitamins and antioxidants among many other minerals, to help fight infection and also is great for hair and skin.
