BooGio 11 Productions Art & Entertainment - Creating awareness and change through conscious, transformative and empowered

BooGio11 Productions was founded by Mudita & Divya Chandra in 2009, with an intention to revisit contemporary paradigms in theatre & film in India, seeking its organic roots as a means to self discovery, transformation and value creation. The company thrives on creative collaborations among actors, movement artists, musicians, writers, scenographers and indeed audiences towards finding meaning in

a climate of spectacle and flash. BooGio’s projects rest on inspirational content as much as on process and innovative form – employing technology to interpret timeless streams from the vast repository of music, dance, myth and spirituality to create works of performance art with an efficient stillness and depth of tradition. Gender dynamics; relationships held and fostered within urbanity; receptivity to and awareness of energy realms and cause-effect patterns are some of the on-going thematic experiments at BooGio11. The "HAPPY TO HELP THEATRE COMPANY"
is part of BooGio 11 Productions.

Celebrating Hattie McDaniel!

Hattie McDaniel made history 82 years ago at the 12th Academy Awards, becoming the first Black woman to win an Oscar, for her role as Mammy in "Gone with the Wind.” As we approach this year's ’s ceremony, set for March 27th, we want to remember the women who paved the way.

It is important to note that Hattie had to accept her 1940 best supporting actress trophy in a segregated hotel and that her character is an example of a common trope for Black women referred to as a “mammy,” which still exists today. Traditionally the character is depicted as a dark-skinned, overweight woman who is employed by a white family to care for their children and is utterly devoted to her charges.

Hattie’s legacy has had a lasting impact. Mo’Nique, during her 2009 acceptance speech for best supporting actress in “Precious” thanked Hattie, “for enduring all that she had to so that I would not have to."

Sofia Coppola, who directed “Lost in Translation,” “The Virgin Suicides,” and, most recently, “Priscilla,” absorbed from her father the ethos that it was never worth it to cave to the creative demands of executives. http://nyer.cm/6nNLpXO
