escapetoworld_ninad Rishikesh, also spelt as Hrishikesh, is a city and a tehsil in Dehradun district of the Indian state Uttarakhand. Located in the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India, it is known as the "Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas" and "Yoga Capital of the World”. It lies 25 km (15 mi) north of the city Haridwar and 45 km (28 mi) southeast of the state capital Dehradun. It is known as the pilgrimage town and regarded as one of the holiest places for Hindus. Hindu sages and saints have visited Rishikesh since ancient times to meditate in search of higher knowledge.

In September 2015, the Union tourism minister Mahesh Sharma announced that Rishikesh and Haridwar will be the first in India to be given the title of "twin national heritage cities". Due to the religious significance of the place, non-vegetarian food and alcohol are strictly prohibited in Rishikesh. The city has hosted the annual International Yoga Festival on the first week of March since 1989.

Manali is a very busiest tourist destination and traveler paradise settled in the mountains of the Indian province of Himachal Pradesh close to the northern finish of the Kullu Valley in the Beas River Valley. It is situated in the Kullu region, around 270 km (168 mi) north of the state capital, Shimla, 309 km (192 miles) upper east of Chandigarh, and 544 km (338 miles) upper east of Delhi, the public capital. The unassuming community, with a populace of 8,096, is the start of an old shipping lane to Ladakh and from that point over the Karakoram Pass on to Yarkand and Khotan in the Tarim Basin. It is a famous traveler objective and fills in as the doorway to Lahaul and Spiti region just as Leh.
Manali is named after the Sanatan Hindu lawgiver Manu. The name Manali is viewed as the subordinate of 'Manu-Alaya' which signifies 'the homestead of Manu'. Rumors from far and wide suggest that savvy Manu ventured off his ark in Manali to reproduce human existence after an extraordinary flood had deluged the world. Manali lies in the North of Kullu Valley. The valley is regularly alluded to as the 'Valley of the Gods'. Old Manali town has an antiquated sanctuary devoted to sage Manu.
