Tawang, culturally and naturally rich but yet unexplored by any birders.
BBT decided to make a recce trip to this wonderland and explore the bird diversity and the potential of birding in this region. We started our birding from above Tawang town from 2800 meters of elevation and went all the way till 4000 meters. The birds activities were amazing almost throughout the day. Our big target was to see how easy the Blood Pheasant and Satyr tragopan are. Blood Pheasant seems to be more bold and cooperative. We saw a female Satyr Tragopan but couldn't photograph. All together we saw 60 birds today with some pictures of the species.

This vulnerable species of Pheasant found in Himalaya was one of our key targets in Manila in Uttrakhand. We were lucky that we found them twice.
Cheer Pheasant.

Mishmi Hill birding is never complete without seeing this endemic bird.
Mishmi Wren Babbler, an endemic bird found only in Mishmi Hill is one of the top listed bird of the region. It gave us little tough time as usual but eventually gave us a wonderful view for time.

Mission finally got accomplished!
Our Birding tour to Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary and Sela Pass in Arunachal Pradesh was fantastic. Saw almost all the big birds including Ward's Trogon, Beautiful Nuthatch, Long-billed Wren Babbler, Pale-billed Parrotbill, Pale-headed Woodpecker, Himalayan Monal, Blood Pheasant, Grandala and many others. White-browed Tit Warbler was a big bonus of the trip. Even after seeing all these fantastic birds the trip remains little unsuccessful without seeing this gorgeous critically endangered bird the Bugun Liocichla.
After spending three and half days searching for this bird we finally saw the bird Bugun Liocichla. It was not less than any blessing. With all the happiness and smiles on faces our next stop will be Kaziranga National Park.

Our Rajasthan birding trip includes a one day visit to Jorbeer Carcas dump. It is a conservation reserve and fantastic place for the raptors. It was fascinating to see hundreds of different raptors like Egyptian Vulture, Eurasian vulture, Steppe Eagle, Eastern imperial eagle and many more. The primary target apart from raptors was an endangered Yellow-eyed Pigeon. They come in small number during winter at Jorneer. We were lucky as we saw thousands of them in a flock.

Our Rajasthan birding trip had a one night stop at Jaipur, a pink city. Here our aim was to visit a famous Jhalana leopard safari park to see the elusive species of cat. Jhalana leopard safari park in Rajasthan is spread in an area of 23Sq KM and it is home to 30-35 leopards. The hunger among all the members to see this elusive but beautiful big cat was high. And we were lucky enough as we found two leopards on our first safari. They were mother Jalabi and a grown cub Berfi as they named. It was very satisfying to see a beautiful big cat in the wild. Our mission is accomplished and now we can concentrate more on birds. The next safari in the morning was dedicated to the birds. After going through all the recent sightings on ebird from the park we came to know that there was a Pallid scops owl seen a day before. This was a big target for all the members in the group. And this morning we found a Pallid Scops Owl in a day roost. Later our drivers took us to the different direction where we sighted another Owl which we were not very sure about the identification initially. We took pictures and later after confirming from various experts it turned out to be a rare Eurasian Scops Owl. That was amazing. Apart from these two Owls we saw a Brown Boobook which was sighted for the first time in the park this year. The call of the Indian Peafowl and Gray Francolin all over the forest in the morning is just mesmerizing.
