DO’s in Gulmarg (Winter)
TRANSPORT
- Hire a cab with snow chains (₹3000 pickup & drop is reasonable in heavy snow).
- Keep buffer time roads via Tangmarg can close temporarily after snowfall.
Guides & Skiing
- Take a local guide (₹999/day) if you’re new it saves time, money, and confusion.
- Use a ski instructor (₹2250) or opt for Fun Ski with instructor (₹1500) if you’re a beginner.
- Ski gear: ₹500–1000 per pair depending on quality inspect before paying.
Clothing
- If you already have waterproof shoes & jacket, skip renting from Tangmarg.
- Wear thermal layers, gloves, woollen cap, and sunglasses (snow glare is strong).
