২০২৫ সাল থেকে, ভারত সরকার পাসপোর্টের জন্য আবেদনের নিরাপত্তা এবং সহজতা উন্নত করার জন্য নতুন পাসপোর্ট নিয়ম চালু করেছে। তথ্যের নিরাপত্তা উন্নত করার জন্য, পরিচয়পত্রের বৈধতা পরীক্ষা করার জন্য এবং ভারতীয় পাসপোর্ট কীভাবে জারি করা হয় তা আপডেট করার জন্য পরিবর্তন আনা হয়েছে। সমস্ত ভারতীয় নাগরিক এখন চিপ-ভিত্তিক ই-পাসপোর্ট পাবেন এবং অতিরিক্ত সুবিধা সহ ঝামেলামুক্ত ভ্রমণ প্রক্রিয়া উপভোগ করবেন।

ভারত ইলেকট্রনিক বা ই-পাসপোর্ট চালু করেছে, যার মধ্যে একটি অন্তর্নির্মিত চিপ রয়েছে যা RFID চিপের সাথে ডেটা সংরক্ষণ করে। এই RFID চিপ নিশ্চিত করে যে পাসপোর্টধারীর বায়োমেট্রিক এবং ব্যক্তিগত বিবরণ এনক্রিপ্ট করা থাকে, যার ফলে পাসপোর্টের অনুলিপি বা জাল করা কঠিন হয়ে পড়ে।

নতুন পাসপোর্টে আবেদনকারীদের বাবা-মায়ের নাম আর অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা হবে না। এর ফলে যাদের পাসপোর্টে বাবা-মায়ের নাম তালিকাভুক্ত নেই তাদের জন্য প্রক্রিয়াটি আরও সহজ হবে।
