Welcome to Oddsstaðir!

“Your home away from home”

We are a family-run farm located in beautiful Borgarfjörður, West Iceland. Here we are 3 generations living and working together -Sigurður Oddur Ragnarsson (goes by Oddur) and his wife Guðbjörg Ólafsdóttir (goes by Gugga), who owns the farm. Their son Hannes and his fiancee Denise with their 3 kids.

At the farm there’s about 120 horses (and 250 sheep), 2 dogs -Skotta “the old and wise” & Móa “the young and talented”. When she feels like it, we also have a cat -Apelsína, who moved to us from the next farm, but comes and goes as she pleases.

Between the two generations there’s endless amount of knowledge and experience with especially horses. Oddur & Gugga have been breeding horses for almost 50 years. Oddur is a former breeding judge and an educated farrier (specialized in Therapeutic farriery). Gugga comes from a family well known for their breeding, and has carried on the legacy of her late mother’s breeding. Hannes is the main man taking care of all the machinery, and hay for the horses. Denise is an educated trainer and instructor from Hólar University. She’s been riding almost all of her life and teaching for more than half of her life.

Our aim is to open our home to everyone visiting us. Sharing our love for the horses, letting people enjoy well educated horses, with clear tölt and a good temper!
