Glacierview Guesthouse - Hrifunes A bed and breakfast between two glaciers For over 30 years people have been coming to Hrífunes for relaxation and to explore the magnificent nature all around.

Situated 220 km east of Reykjavik, it is a pleasant 3 hours drive along the main ring road where you will pass many waterfalls and mountains as well as glaciers. After passing the town of VÍK, in the south of Iceland, you continue for another 35 km west and turn off the main road after the Hrífunes sign. From there you carry on for another 5 minutes before reaching Hrífunes.

It was a real pleasure and honour to host Barbara Demick and her partner at our guesthouse. Barbara is a respected author and journalist who has won many prises. Barbara Demick is author of Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea and Logavina Street: Life and Death in a Sarajevo Neighborhood and the recently released Eat the Buddha: Life and Death in a Tibetan Town that have been translated to Icelandic. I had read her book on North Korea and that opened my and the worlds eyes to that closed country. I had a long and wonderful chat with Barbara and I already look forward to meeting up again in Manhattan, Kenya or Iceland! Thank you for opening up my eyes and I look forward to read your new book.
