Since we have another game in the World Cup today we wrote a little piece about Iceland and Football.

Go Iceland!

Two years ago we were the smallest nation to join the European Championship. But we did not stop there cause now Iceland is the smallest country ever to qualify for the World Cup! The entire population of Iceland is slightly over 330.000 but our football team is now 22nd on FIFA world ranking list.....

It´s not an uncommon question to get while driving around in Iceland with a foreigner "why do you have all of these horses?"
There are a lot of riders in Iceland and not fewer horse rentals.

Langjökull is 20% larger than the entire New York area and 7% thicker than the highest building, not only in New York but in the Western Hemisphere!
Keep in mind it´s only the second largest glacier in Iceland!

So what do we have for you this week?
Nothing less but the Capital of the north!

Fun fact: First women to vote in Iceland was in Akureyri, at that time it wasn´t legal but she did it anyway. This was on March 31st, 1863!
She used a loophole in the law cause it said all men not all male :)

We thought this was fitting for the day.
So there´s a storm going over the city at the moment and will go over the north in a few hours.

They are worth it. Just so you know that the naturally heated lagoons that we have are not the same as our pools. The pools are man-made and we just use the geothermal heat to warm them up. You can find some lagoons around the country but they are naturally heated and are not inspected or made sure....
