THE SPOOKY CLASSIC RETURNS: Minamina Goodsong’s Cult Masterpiece Gets Its Due
From the vaults to your ears, Atlanta hip-hop legends Minamina Goodsong unleash their twisted masterwork Four Farmer Circus—a concept album where the big top becomes a nightmare and the carnies transform into monsters.
Originally released in 2005 on ArcTheFinger Records, this 22-track journey reunited childhood friends Pgnut Prehistoric (Brandon Odum), Adahma AD (Evan Wix), Ted Johnson (Twain Carter), and DJ T’Challa aka the Teacher (Cedric Dodd) for one final creative statement. What they created was more than an album—it was a complete narrative experience blending conscious hip-hop with R&B, soul, and jazzy alt-rap.
Four Farmer Circus tells its story through urgent newsflashes, funky swagger, and introspective depth. From the opening alert of “The Five O’Clock News” through the head-nodding grooves of “Big” and “Attack Of The Stinky Foot” to the spiritual searching of “Sollay” and “Changes,” this is underground hip-hop at its most innovative and complete.
Featuring heavyweight guest spots from ManCHILD of Mars ILL, Collective Efforts, Captain Mudfish Starbolt, and late legends Jax of Binkis Recs and Dres The Beatnik, the album showcases the deep Atlanta underground scene at its collaborative peak.
This was the creative summit before Minamina’s 2005 Van’s Warped Tour run and their 2006 disbandment—a group who shared stages with Run DMC, Pharcyde, and the Black Eyed Peas going out on top. Nearly two decades later, their extensive catalog stands as testament to true artistry and innovation.
