We remember our first Villaggio Tours group so fondly. For starters, they took a chance on an untested tour company. Their enthusiasm as the week unfolded helped convince us that our crazy idea had legs. And they were simply a blast to be around - women I'd be friends with in any other life. I am honored to say that one of them later visited with her young family and bought a house in Allerona, another has sent family members, including her mother and aunt, on a tour with us, and still other friends have booked for the spring. And now another of those first guests is coming back for an encore tour in May. You all know who you are. Thank you for believing in us and loving our little village as much as we do.

We spent the holidays in various stages of the flu, but still look back on a year of huge accomplishments - successful tours and of course, the opening of our Six Keys Guesthouse.

Thank you all for being part of the adventure, and very best wishes for a New Year filled with joy, love, and most of all, peace.

Abbiamo trascorso le vacanze in varie fasi dell'influenza, ma guardiamo ancora indietro a un anno di grandi successi - tour di successo e, naturalmente, l'apertura della nostra Six Keys Guesthouse.

I returned from co-leading a tour in Sicily with .palate.adventures and caught the tail-end of our olive harvest. I usually pick the lower branches by hand while the guys taje turns wielding those heavy-ish machines, but this year, all I got to do was pick out twigs and leaves. The amount of olives we harvest varies from year to year, but wasn't too bad this time around - enough to keep us in oil for the year, with some to spare for Franca, who cooks with a LOT of it.

That gentle clicking of the electric pitchforks will continue all over our area for the next few weeks. I like the sound, because it evokes such an important part of the culture of Umbria - the pride, satisfaction, and gratitude at being able to harvest with your own hands a product that is such a central and historic part of our food traditions.
