If you are planning to visit Gargano, in Puglia - Italy, don’t miss the opportunity to visit Carpino too, a well-known center for the production of oil and beans.

Here some suggestions on FOOD and ACCOMMODATIONS:
- Where to have a MEAL: Agriturismo Biorussi, Contrada Macchiarotonda, Carpino FG +39 0884 992513
- ACCOMMODATIONS: Agriturismo Villa Costanza, contrada Coppa, Via della Repubblica, Carpino FG, +39 3405586267
Carpino’s area, mainly hilly, extends between the Umbra Forest in the north and the Lake of Varano in the south. It borders with Cagnano Varano, Ischitella, Monte Sant'Angelo and Vico del Gargano.
The origins of Carpino date back to the year one thousand, when the last inhabitants of ancient Uria, an important city that once was on the shores of the current lagoon, took refuge in the hornbeam forests a few kilometers from Lake of Varano, in search of less harmful places. The origin of the name is uncertain but it would seem to be linked to the presence of roe deer or to the presence of breeding places (in vulgar Latin "Caprelis") in the surroundings of Carpino or in the presence of a thick forest of hornbeams that once covered the hill of Pastromele on which, later, the town was built.Over the centuries the name changed first into Crapino and then later to Caprino, up to the present Carpino, as reported in a local document of 1628.The town was the destination of various populations with important names like the Normans, the Angevins and the Aragonese. And were the Normans that built the Castle, which dominates the entire historic center with its imposing bulk.
Still today you can see the ruins of the ancient Norman-Swabian Castle, while the two most important churches show Baroque motifs: San Cirillo, in Piazza del Popolo, the main square of the town and the seventeenth-century Mother Church.

The importance of Carpino is linked above all to the Carpino Folk Festival, an event dedicated to the rediscovery, preservation and promotion of Italian popular music that every year, the first ten days of August, brings relevant personalities to the stage.

COME

If you are planning to visit Peschiera del Garda, peschiera fortress and Lake Garda, in Italy, here you’ll find the best tips on things to do in the city, with a sightseeing map on the most relevant points of interest to enjoy, so you can easily imagine and organize your trip: WHAT to see, HOW to plan your visit, and WHY to discover Peschiera del Garda and the nearby attractions of Garda Lake.

In this video:
- WHAT are the major attractions that you can't go home without having seen, including Peschiera fortress and the massive Venetian defensive system, the Sanctuary of Madonna del Frassino, Porta Brescia and Porta Verona, the ruins of Roman Ardelica.
- Then, I’ll describe to you HOW to follow a daily-tour to better visit the city, with a clear map of Peschiera dal Garda village and tips for nearby attractions, such as the bike route that follows Mincio river to arrive in Mantova.
Finally, we’ll discover WHY to visit Peschiera dal Garda, with his rich historic city center.

WHAT
Peschiera del Garda is located on the south shore of Garda Lake.
Just outside the city you can visit the Sanctuary of Madonna del Frassino (1511).
Moving into the city centre what to do in Peschiera?
The major attraction of the city is the Peschiera Fortress: the town is encircled by massive Venetian defensive system which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You can enjoy a beautiful panorama of the fortress from Porta Brescia or Porta Verona.
The city center is so nice to walk around.
“Roman Ardelica” was a town of Gallia Transpadana that occupied the site of the modern Peschiera del Garda.

HOW
I suggest you to visit the city from Porta Verona to Porta Brescia, walking around the the streets of the center.
Near Peschiera and around Garda lake there are a lot of other wonderful towns you could visit, such as Sirmione, Lazise, Bardolino (watch my videos on all of them!).
You can enjoy your time in Gardaland of course
Or…you could visit Verona or Mantova, which are both 40 minutes away by car.
And, if you are a bike lover, consider Peschiera as the starting point of a 40 km cycle path that follows Mincio river to arrive in Mantova.

WHY
The main reason to visit Peschiera del Garda is to see his Venetian fortifications, to enjoy the really small historical city centre, and as a basis to move around: Garda lake, surely, is rich of attractions!

If you are planning to visit Garda village and Lake Garda, in Italy, here you’ll find the best tips on things to do in the city, with a sightseeing map on the most relevant points of interest to enjoy, so you can easily imagine and organize your trip: WHAT to see, HOW to plan your visit, and WHY to discover Garda city.

In this video:
- WHAT are the major attractions that you can't go home without having seen, including the old Garda town, Villa degli Albertini, Garda Fortress and Punta San Vigilio.
- Then, I’ll describe to you HOW to follow a daily-tour to better visit the city, with a clear map of Garda village and tips for nearby attractions.
Finally, we’ll discover WHY to visit Garda city, with his rich historic city center.

WHAT
Garda village, on the eastern shore of Garda Lake, is located between Bardolino and Torri del Benaco.
What can you do in Garda city?
Surely you can take a walk along the alleys of the center.
Here you can also find a lot of interesting shops.
And if that's not enough, you can have fun visiting the lakeside market on Friday.
Just outside the center, I suggest you give a look at Villa degli Albertini (16th century), with its lovely magnolia trees.

HOW
How could you visit Garda town?
If you still have energy after visiting the old town, here are three possible trips you could follow:
- trekking up to the remains of Garda fortress, standing 300 m over the town, which offers an amazing view over the whole lake.
- a walking towards Punta San Vigilio, a village within a small park.
- another option you have is to visit Bardolino, going south (watch my video on it).

WHY
Why visit Garda village?
Garda is not only a fascinating village, but divides the eastern shore of the lake into two, and therefore can be a convenient starting point for visiting all the attractions on this side of the lake. In addition, Garda city allows long walks along the lake, going north or south ... a real relax!
