Jonathan VanDyke, ”The Hole in the Palm of Your Hand”
Sept. 12-Nov. 1, 2009
In his first solo exhibition with Scaramouche, VanDyke transformed the gallery space creating a container for his minimalist sculptures which dripped paint for the duration of the show, changing shade each day. Rupture is a key motif of VanDyke’s work - form ruptured by formlessness, the solid ruptured by the liquid, the familiar by the unlikely. As the ground underfoot builds up with a startlingly vibrant muck, the exhibition constantly re-makes itself.
