4 Places Italians Go on Vacation (Number 4 is my favorite!)

If you're planning a trip to Italy, here are 4 destinations where Italians actually go on vacation.

1. Sicily: Ancient Greek history, beautiful beaches, fertile soil from Mt Etna, and some of the best seafood & street food. My favorites include Cefalù, Noto, and Palermo!

2. The Dolomites: Breathtaking landscapes, charming alpine villages (perfect for hiking & e-biking), and long lunches at chalets. This region blew my expectations!

3. Ligurian Coast: Here you'll find colorful clifftop villages, crystal-clear water, and where pesto was born. First-time Italy travelers adore Cinque Terre. Italians go further, to Portofino and Camogli.

4. Puglia: A vast section of coastline with whitewashed towns, trulli houses, olive groves, and dozens of villages to explore. This is where to find my favorite cooking classes that highlight the local produce!

12 Best Things to Do in Avignon, France + Must-Know Tips!

I did not expect to love Avignon, France, as much as I did. But all it took was a few sips of red Châteauneuf-du-Pape and a stroll through the bustling Provençal Saturday market to seal the deal. Now, I can’t wait to go back.

If you’re into history, there are so many incredible things to do in Avignon – known as La Cité des Papes, or the “City of the Popes.” But if you love food and w**e, even better...

Between exploring the Palais des Papes, w**e tasting in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and eating your way through Les Halles, Avignon is beyond deserving of three full days on your Provence itinerary.

The legendary Rhône Valley appellation is known for its powerful, full-bodied red blends, centuries-old châteaux, and vineyards blanketed in iconic rounded river stones called galets roulés.

I went on a full-day Châteauneuf-du-Pape w**e tour from Avignon, and I wish I could do it all over again. Four guided tastings of high-quality w**es, three very different w**ery visits, and a three-course lunch at a beautiful château overlooking the vines? It all added up to the perfect way to spend a day in Provence. And by my count, we tasted 17 different w**es… plus two more at lunch!

If you’re into hearty French food and fabulous w**e, then you’re going to love Beaune, France.

Situated in the heart of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or, Beaune is the perfect base for exploring some of the world’s most prestigious vineyards and w**e villages.

But when you’re not out w**e tasting, this ridiculously charming town has plenty more to offer…

Inside Beaune’s medieval ramparts, you’ll find the spectacular Hôtel-Dieu (Hospices de Beaune), a bustling Saturday market worth planning your entire trip around, centuries-old w**e cellars, quaint town squares, mustard shops, and the coziest Burgundian bistros.

I’ve been to Beaune twice now. After my recent trip – which involved cellar tours, e-biking through the vineyards along the Route des Grands Crus, long lunches, mustard-tasting, lots of Époisses cheese (merci beaucoup!), and some of the most delicious w**es I’ve ever tasted – Beaune has officially become my favorite town in France.

You can’t travel around New Zealand’s South Island and not visit Milford Sound.

Located in Fiordland National Park, this stunning landscape (which is actually a fjord) features soaring vertical cliffs, snow-capped mountains, lush rainforest, native fauna, deep-blue water, and countless waterfalls.

Milford Sound is one of the most spectacular destinations in New Zealand, but figuring out how to get there can be surprisingly complicated. Not to mention, every year it gets busier and busier.

So I mean it when I say: how you choose to visit will make or break your experience. Should you drive from Queenstown? Take a bus tour? Board a cruise? Fly over Fiordland in a tiny plane? Or a helicopter? Spend the night on the fjord itself?
