Warning!
In Via de 'Neri war has been declared on tourists, Italians and foreigners alike, who sit on the sidewalks to eat sandwiches they have bought nearby. The risk for those, caught by the municipal police, biting into mortadella, salame toscano and lampredotto, is to be handed a fine of between 150 and 500 euros.
This will also also concern the neighbouring streets.
Even standing still to eat in front of the premises that sell sandwiches could incur a fine. So, what should you do? Take the sandwich and run away?
Signs (in Italian and English) warning of the risks of eating a sandwich will be erected.
Pity the city doesn't concentrate more on getting rid of the ever-growing number of aggressive illegal street vendors and beggars...
